Cavs Academy Summer Camp going strong at CCAC Allegheny Campus!
Cavs Youth Camp Returns to CCAC, Welcomes Over 125 Young Athletes
This summer, CCAC’s Allegheny Campus once again played host to the Cavs Youth Camp, part of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ official Cavs Academy Summer Tour. Back for its second year in Pittsburgh, the camp welcomed over 125 boys and girls, ages 8 to 14, for a week of elite instruction, exciting competition, and unforgettable experiences.
Led locally by CCAC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Clyde Manns, the camp created a high-energy environment focused on developing core basketball skills while reinforcing important life values like teamwork, effort, and discipline.
What Campers Experienced:
-
Professional-Level Instruction: Daily skill sessions in shooting, ball-handling, defense, and team concepts.
-
Cavs Academy Swag: Every participant received an official Cavs Academy jersey, shorts, and branded giveaways.
-
Game Day Feel: Campers scrimmaged daily, competed in contests, and got a taste of the NBA experience with a chance to earn free Cavs home game tickets.
-
Positive Mentorship: With Coach Manns at the helm, the camp emphasized character, confidence, and connection to higher education.
“This camp is more than just basketball it’s a platform for growth,” said Coach Clyde Manns. “We want these kids to walk away better athletes and even better people.”
Why It Matters
The Cavs Youth Camp at CCAC is more than a summer activity; it’s part of a larger mission to empower youth through sport, introduce them to the college environment, and connect them with positive role models. With 125+ participants, this year’s camp doubled down on its promise to provide a safe, fun, and impactful space for Pittsburgh’s young athletes.
As this partnership with Cavs Academy grows, so does its ability to shape the next generation of student-athletes across Allegheny County and beyond.
